Coming Out in the Church - with Father Ray Andrews
Following a screening of the half-hour documentary 'Father Ray Comes
Out', Ray will reflect on the personal journey he went through before,
during and after the making of the programme which aired earlier this
year on Channel 4...
With humour and honesty our host will share his personal story of what it is like to be a gay minister both before and since his recent coming out. There will be time for a conversation and questions from attendees.
Ray Andrews
Father Ray is an
Anglican Priest with a Central London parish. He is also a mental health
professional. Having survived alcoholism and other addictions, he has
specialised in treating people with addictions for the past fifteen years. He
creates and conducts retreats and workshops and has a ministry in spiritual
direction.
Ray believes that
queer people can suffer from a radical disconnect that comes from a profound
rejection of the true self. He sees the recognition and healing of this as
leading to a true integration of spirit and humanity, liberating queer people
into more authentic and loving relationship with themselves, others and
God.
